Spring Brings a Variety Pack of Weather | SERVPRO® of South Bronx

"an image with a cloudy, rainy, sunny and snowy sky" Extreme temperature changes can lead to the possibility of severe weather. SERVPRO of South Bronx is a click away if you experience any damage.

The United States is one of the largest nations in the world, coming in second to Russia and Canada.

With such a large area, seasonal weather varies for every region! Different weather patterns bring about different weather threats.

As spring is coming, it means that the warm and cold air masses collide and can cause distinct weather conditions throughout the nation. Let’s review what can happen in the larger regions, and what we can expect here in the South Bronx.

Let’s start with the Pacific Northwest, which is an area expected to have heavy rain during the spring months. The areas that are higher in elevation are likely still dealing with the winter weather like snow or melting ice. And these things can cause problems of their own.

The Upper Midwest and Northeast regions experience “winter” weather much longer than the rest of the United States. From Maine to the Dakotas, they are still dealing with extremely cold weather, to the point that snowstorms and blizzards can become a factor. That includes here in The Bronx, where it can stay pretty frigid for much longer than we’d like.

While these areas are dealing with snow, the southern West Coast is doing the opposite, dealing with excessive heat waves. These heat waves can endanger lives. The South Pacific, including Hawaii, will have to be on the lookout for possible tsunamis.

The middle of the country deals with windstorms, derecho and the risk of wildfires! Because the winds are so strong and the seasons are so dry, wildfires can spread easily across the nation. This area also encompasses Tornado Alley, which is where a high concentration of tornadoes occur.

Then you have the Southeast region, which can experience a wide range of severe weather, including everything from tornadoes to severe thunderstorms. Those in these areas also must be aware of early-season hurricanes if they’re along the coast.

Like mentioned before, with the U.S. having such a large nation, different regions experience different weather threats. It doesn’t matter if you live in Texas, California or here in New York—you must be aware of the weather hazards in your area at all times.

If extreme weather leaves you with damage from water, fire or other elements, help is a click away. Contact SERVPRO for fast, expert recovery.
